The Ministry of Industry

The Ministry of Industry and Promotion of the Private Sector is responsible for the implementation and the monitoring of the Government’s policy on industrial development, promotion of the private sector, and SME / SMI. In this respect and in collaboration with the various relevant departments, it has the initiative and responsibility for the following actions:

  1. With regard to industry
    • Development of national industrialisation policy;
    • Research and support of opportunities for the creation and development of industrial production in order to respond to changes in the domestic and international demand;
    • Implementation of new instruments for industrial development, including free zones, export plants, industrial zones and export insurances;
    • Control of industrial facilities, in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction, urban development and housing;
    • Prospecting opportunities for the establishment of industrial units;
    • National and International Promotion of Ivory Coast as an industrial country;
    • Promotion of processing into finished or semi-finished products of local raw materials imported, including the timber industry, agro-industry and by-products;
    • Adaptation and optimization of the applied research results in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research;
    • Monitoring and evaluation of the technology transfer process;
    • Promotion, coordination and monitoring of industrial activities;
    • Awareness, assistance/consulting with regard to on quality approach;
    • Implementation of the industrial standardisation policy, quality control of national and international industrial products;
    • Implementation of the intellectual property and patents management policy;  

  2. With regard to the private sector and SMEs promotion
    • Encourage natives private initiative;
    • Contribute to defining an incentive framework for the private sector development ;
    • Enforcement of the Investment Code provisions;
    • Domestic private sector and foreign investors promotion;
    • Implementation of a body dedicated to promoting Ivory Coast, in collaboration with the trade stakeholders;
    • Promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises and industries (SMEs / SMIs);
    • Monitoring and coordination of SMEs / SMIs development activities;
    • Implementation and monitoring of policies aimed at improving SMEs / SMIs efficiency;
    • Implementation, on a private basis, of a body dedicated to promoting Ivorian SMEs / SMIs, in association with national and international economic and financial operators;
    • Development and implementation of an institutional and regulatory framework for the creation and financing of SMEs;
    • SMEs coaching.
