The Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries was created in Ivory Coast in 1970.In collaboration with other involved Ministries, it is the driving force and is responsible for the following actions:
- Planning, promoting and developing livestock, fish farming and fishery
- Regulation and quality control of livestock foods
- Improvement, control of animal health and health monitoring
- Regulation and control of medicines, veterinary products and equipment
- Promotion and control of animal facilities
- Determining and monitoring the implementation of pastoral development and related rural areas exploitation
- Promotion of marketing infrastructures of livestock and fishery products
- Development and management of fishery and fish farming infrastructures
- Promotion of sea and river-lagoon fishing
- Involvement in the control and surveillance of the exclusive economic zone
- Promotion, regulation and control of livestock and fishery products processing
